go back to the mods menu and start up worldbuilder. you should see the custom map option under the map dropdown, among the usual options such as archipelago, continents, tsl europe, etc. go back to civ 6's main menu and select single player > create game > advanced setup. i'm saving in the right spot then (awesome!). i'm using civ's world builder, so i make my maps ingame.
once saved, exit to the main menu, click on single player, then create game, and the map will be in the "choose map type" list. otherwise it will show up in your "choose map type" list as "untitled map".
